Long time, no post

Thought I'd update so I don't have to go to sleep :)

Sooooooo...I was thinking of starting an LJ comm to post my original fictions/arts/etc (like just a community devoted to my original characters and stories)...

BUT I need a catchy name for it. Because thespunkymonkeys_cracktastic_fictions just doesn't do it for me.

I am at a loss. I would like it to be something poetic and catchy. Some examples that I like: spellsunbind, love4sail, can't think of anymore right now....

I like song titles, lines of poetry, lyrics, references to anything.

Ideas? Shoot.

IN OTHER BORING COLLEGE NEWS:

I hate my drawing class more than anything in the world right now. It is so grueling and tiresome. I should not be dreading drawing! I should not! But I am...so much. GAH.

IN OTHER MY LIFE NEWS:

Batman has taken over my life. I used to think B-man was the stupidest superhero ever. But then I saw The Dark Knight and Batman Begins...and then I played Arkham Asylum and OMG I lurve the whole Batman story and all the characters and holy crap, it's awesome. I'd also like to thank Eiko-chan on dA for crapping out Batman fanart just as I was getting into Arkham Asylum. Great timing, gurl-fran :D

Also, I love movie soundtracks. I think I've said that before but I recently got soundtracks for: Series of Unfortunate Events, WALL-E (both by the amazing Thomas Newman), The Dark Knight, Stardust, and Coraline. (which is pure godly btdubs). And the instrumental version of Imogen Heap's Ellipse is really pretty too. Some of the songs don't translate so well without Immi's voice, but it's still pretty :)

BONES SEASON 4. GUESS WHO GOT IT ON DVD BITCHES?! ...hee hee. AND BONES SEASON 5 OMG I'M IN LOVE AND THERE HAVE ONLY BEEN LIKE 4 EPISODES. B/B FOREVER :DDD

That's it from me. Please help me with my comm name please! I'll draw you something pritty <3

Love,

Liz

Sketch Post + Move-in update

Hooray! I'm officially moved in! I've actually been moved in since Saturday--I spent Sunday at home though since I was homesick like crazy. Since then, I've been adjusting quite well. That whole thing about getting involved the minute you get to college? NO JOKE PEOPLE. DO IT. You will be so busy that you won't have time to be homesick.

Unfortunately...I learned that a little late...whatever.

Oh, remember that summer reading book from last post? Three Cups of Tea? Yeah, totally met the author. Greg Mortenson? Yeah, he asked me where I was from and how I liked college. Yeah, suck that muthalickaz.

Mr. Mortenson probably wouldn't appreciate me taunting people since he was SOOOOO nice and he smiled a lot and talked to the associate director of my college's 9-year-old daughter about where chocolate came from. All together now: D'AWWWWW <3

Oh and I saw Star Trek again for the third time tonight. It was playing at the campus theater, so me and Mary went and had oodles of fun. When Spock Vulcan-nerve-pinches Kirk, we both went, "KER'VULCANED!" at the same time XD And I can't help but love Bones more and more the more I see the movie. Karl Urban IS McCoy. He just IS.

AND I HAVE A MEETING WITH THE HEAD OF THE ART & DESIGN DEPARTMENT ON MONDAY MORNING SO WE CAN DISCUSS A PLAN FOR ME TO TRANSFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!!eleven!!*shift*!!!!!!!!

...I'm a little excited...only a little though XD

SKETCH POST TIME!

pepherd man baby

He speaks for himself methinks. I suck with dudes so I decided to ref some C-Pine pics and this is what I got. Isn't he lovely?

After some deliberation I decided that this is going to be my go-to ref for my character Tate (the significant other to my aforementioned character Avery...see previous post). Tate's kind of a bulky guy and I'm used to drawing skinny anime-like guys. I'm branching out and experimenting with a realistic style and I like it :D

And now a gratuitous C-Pine/Kirk GIF for your enjoyment <3

ChrisPine POW! POW! POW!

Love,
Liz

One More Day...

One more day until I move out. That is such a weird statement. I can't say I'm moving away because my college is less than ten minutes from my house...but I am moving out. All my stuff has to be packed up tomorrow to move on Saturday.

That is SO WEIRD D:

Anyhoo...I realized that a month ago I volunteered to draw prize art for deviantART's Coraline fanclub contest. And...now I'm not entirely sure I'll have time. I'm hoping I can make time though. Drawing prize art should be loads of fun.

Yeeeeeah, I should be working on my summer reading assignment (finished the book; haven't started the essays...yes, PLURAL)

keegan and avery comparison

And this is something I just doodled on the back of my dorm room checklist :D It's my two main female OCs--Keegan and Avery. Nat and I were talking and I realized how similar they seem when you don't delve to deeply into their stories and characters (Keegan's is a romantic comedy and Avery's is an action/mystery/thriller). So I've been working on making the differences between them obvious.

They're both redheads but Keegan's is a sun-streaked red like my friend Mary's (who has the prettiest hair EVAR) and Avery's is darker just because she's never in the sun. And as you can see (despite the crappy picture quality--taken from my phone) that Avery has a longer, thinner face while Keegan's is round and kinda chubby (she's also a lot younger than Avery).

I would post a comparison of my ladies' significant others...but there's no problem distinguishing their differences, beginning with their nationalities XDDDD

Okay, I'm going to bed now but I'll let you all know when I'm safely tucked into my new home!!! Cheers! <3

Deja Vu

About four years ago, I recall a huge blockbuster sci-fi movie hitting theaters, breaking records, and making it pretty damn cool to be a geek. I also remember the lead character in said sci-fi movie was smokin' hot and I developed a sort-of-creepy-stalker-crush on the actor.

Let's see...a huge blockbuster sci-fi movie hit theaters a few months ago, broke some records and is making it even COOLER to be a geek. The lead character in said movie is OMG SO HOT and I'm developing a bit of creepy-stalker-crush on the actor.

DEJA VU MUCH?

In case you're totally lost, the first movie I was referring to was Star Wars Episode III (a god-awful movie with really cool special effects) and the actor would, of course, be Hayden Christensen (featuring his 200 lbs. brow). I seriously thought I was in love with this dude. Me and my friend from youth group were like obsessed with him and our minister picked on us about it (all in good fun).

AND HELLO! STAR TREK! Like the most amazing sci-fi movie I've seen this year! AND HELLO! CHRIS PINE ANYONE?! Break me off a piece of that, please :D

Here's to prove the extent of my creepy-stalker-ness true love: the Capt. Kirk figure I just bought who now resides on my desk next to Gay Ed (my artist's mannequin), Hula Hottie (the dashboard hula girl my grandparents brought from Hawaii), Badtz Maru, Squeeze the Rat (LOL), Racer X's car, Sally and L (Roy Mustang-keychain hangs above all of them from the fake Chinese wedding flowers I have <3)

KIRK action figure OMG! His shirt is made of this weird stretchy material like those Polly Pocket toys. He also has really REALLY fake abs! :D

So back to my developing love for Chris Pine--who, by the way, is actually a very good actor, not to mention charming, funny and very attractive. He has more than two facial expressions, thank you very much. I remember trying to watch other stuff that 200-lb-Brow had been in...it was kind of painful.

Plus, interviews with both Chris and Zachary Quinto (who is also adorable) are HILARIOUS. I like the less-serious ones though, because otherwise Zach is doing all the talking and Chris is sitting there like, "Yep. Sure. Uh huh. Whatever."

Enjoy a double dose of your daily recommended Pine and Quinto:

Chris being adorable and charming and everything wonderful on Ellen
Likewise, Zach being adorable and charming and everything wonderful on Ellen. (LENS FLARES OMG!)

I think I may start watching Ellen. XDDDD

Yeeeeeeeeah, anyway this post isn't to make people think I'm a stalker. Just to let you guys know what my days are filled with: Star Trek (old and new!), Chris Pine and...more Chris Pine XDDDD

OH! I watched his movie Blind Dating which...was okay. Kinda cute. He plays a blind guy who has never been in a relationship and doesn't understand why women are crazy for him. Then he meets an Indian girl and falls in love, but she's promised to marry someone else...very unrealistic in the end, but sweet.

That's it from me. Pic spam to come soon. When ever I get a chance to doodle. My hands hurt because I HAVEN'T doodled. Pooh pooh.

Sketch Post - Capt. Kirk! -squeeee-

Got my NEW copy of Comic Artist's Photo Reference: People and Poses that DOES include the CD (the first copy I bought did not) and decided to try out using a ref with my new favorite starship captain: James T. Kirk!

ST - capt kirk photo ref practice

Yeah, I know his pants are weird...and he's not supposed to look like Chris Pine...well, kind of. I tried to copy his nose structure and stuff. His eyebrows are WAAAAAAAY too small to be Pine's though. LOL

The pose looked A LOT better before I hurriedly colored it. Oh well. He's holding a very 2-dimensional phaser. LOL (again)

Expect more ST art from me...eventually XD
